What's New In VLab-DXP

Introduction

This page describes some of the changes that community members and owners will experience in the latest version of the VLab Note 1.  This overview is divided into a section addressing differences that community members will encounter and a second section highlighting the changes that a community owner and other members that maintain the community will face. The links below will take you to changes relevant to each of these two groups of users.


Community Member

Desired Action Current VLab (Liferay 6.2) New VLab (Lifeary DXP)
Go to a Community Use the My Communities drop down menu located in the upper-right corner of the browser window (Docbar) Use the Select Community Menu ( ) in the upper-left corner of the browser window (Control Menu). On the resulting Select Community page, you can choose from a list of recently visited communities or switch to the My Communities tab for a complete list of your communities.
Visit a community's Public and Private pages Go to the My Communities drop down menu and choose either the community entry with the eye (public pages) or the entry with the slashed eye (private pages) Click on the link, labeled either "Public" or "Private" that you'll find just below the community name (located to the right of the VLab logo). The text label lets you know what pages you are currently viewing.
Leave VLCS and go to another VLab service No VLab provided mechanism. You would either enter the URL in the browser window or click on a "favorite" you had created. Select the service from the Service Grid menu ( ) located in the upper-right corner of the browser window (Control Menu).
Use the WYSIWYG Editor Editor buttons are displayed at the top of the content edit area when managing web content, blog and forum posts, and Wiki entries Liferay 6.2 Editor. WYSIWYG editor buttons in VLab-DXP are hidden until you need to access them. Adding an image, table, and horizontal line is accomplished by clicking in the content area (blue box of DXP Editor Image) and using the Add button to the left of the text entry area. To format your content, use your mouse to highlight the text you want to change and an editor tool bar appears. Select the formatting tool you need to achieve the desired look. To edit the source code, click the code icon in the upper right corner of the content area. To return to the format mode, click the format icon in the upper right corner of the source edit window.

Community Owner & Content Managers

Administer a Community Click on the Admin drop down menu located in the upper-right portion of the browser window (Docbar). Click the Product Menu icon ( ) which will open up the Product Menu on the left side of the page.
Manage a community page Use the Edit button in the upper-left corner of the browser window (Docbar) Click on the Configure Menu icon ( ) in the upper-right corner of the browser window (Control Menu)
Add a portlet to a page Click the +Add button in the upper-left corner of the blowser window (Docbar) Click the Add button ( ) located in the upper-right corner of the browser window (Control Menu)
